Controlling
The Situation
This is your last assignment. Here you will
put everything we have gone over together in one setup.
In this assignment you are tasked to control EVERY aspect
of the situation including, but not limited to;
light
subjects
controls and settings on your camera
scenery/backgrounds
Try to establish some kind of checklist to go over (in your head
or on paper) to make sure you don't forget to control something.
Example:
1) Subject (What to shoot; landscape, macro, portrait, night, motion,
etc...)
2) Idea (Why am I shooting it and why would anyone care to look
at it; the magic word is INTENT.)
3) Settings (How am I shooting it; ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed,
which is more important to achieve the look and match the idea
of my image.
4) Angle (Another "How" to achieve the look to match
the idea.
5) Light (Can I control the light other than inside the camera,
ie: flash, bounce, blocking, shade.)
6) Direction (Make your subjects comfortable and direct them without
demanding them.)
7) Composition (Setting things up physically in the scene or framing
them to be most effective. Remember the rule of thirds.)
8) Check the Backgrounds and look for extraneous
and distracting subjects.
Shoot many images, edit and choose No More than 10 images to
turn in.
